Body Doubling, Part II: Let's Do It Together
Support group
You know that feeling when you stare at a pile of dishes, fully capable but somehow frozen? Yeah, me too.
After my last post about body doubling, many of you showed interest. This made me very excited, so I have been working on a support group!
Body doubling is the gentle practice of doing tasks alongside someone else for support. It's a tool that helps many of us who live with PTSD, ADHD, neurodivergence, chronic conditions, or hidden disabilities. In my case this is PTSD and Guillain Barre.
Today, I'm sharing the next step.
This is more than productivity. It's about connection.
We live in a world that glorifies "just do it." But here, we're rewriting that script. Here, the motto is: "Let's do it together." Because healing doesn't happen in isolation.
And neither does laundry, paperwork, or dishes… not always.
What We're Building
This is the beginning of a support-based body doubling group, grounded in compassion, accessibility, and community care.
Here's how it works
Group Chat – Share your daily intentions, struggles, or even your messy to-do lists.
Support Tools – Drop music, playlists, or anything that helps you stay on task.
Watch Me Do Tasks – I'll be sharing casual videos of myself cleaning, cooking, organizing… and talking through the process.
Shared Resources – Exchange tools, routines, or encouragement.
What Makes This Different
No shame, no pressure. Some days you might work others you will rest. Both are valuable.
Capacity-based, not performance-based. Your energy levels fluctuate, especially with chronic illness, PTSD, or neurodivergence. We honor that here.
Connection over completion. The goal isn't crossing everything off your list. It's feeling less alone while you try.
What's Coming Soon
Weekly planning & structure tips
Meditation advice (not guided, but supportive)
Live co-working sessions
A space where your capacity is respected, not measured
Why This Matters
Executive dysfunction has always been particularly hard for me, especially now, being a spoonie and all. (For those unfamiliar, spoon theory describes how people with chronic illness have limited energy "spoons" each day — once they're used up, that's it.)
Those smart hacks and productivity tips never seemed to stick with me. I'd read about morning routines, time-blocking, atomic habits... and then feel worse when none of it worked for my brain or my body.
Once I discovered body doubling, everything changed. I realized I don't need more advice. I need more presence. More trust in knowing what I'm capable of, without pushing. Just gentle presence while I figure it out, without judgement.
Ready to Try?
We'll start simple, just chatting, getting to know each other and our needs, and some videos to help. Depending on how it goes, the group can evolve.
Drop a comment or message me if:
- You'd like to join our body doubling community
- You have questions about how this works
- You want to share what tasks feel hardest to do alone
Let's heal out loud this together.

My writing is free. But creating this community and consistently showing up for it takes significant time and energy.
If this work resonates with you and you're able to support it, upgrading your subscription or making a donation would mean the world to me. Even something as simple as liking this post helps more people find this community.
Your support allows me to keep creating these spaces where healing happens out loud.

I agree, a lot of us don't need more advice, we need presence. Love what you’re creating!
Yeah, I don't need more skills, I need presence. That seems to be the principle of the rehabnI am in. Even if it's only on the phone. I get more done, when I'm on the phone with someone, even more so, when they are also getting things done.
